First of all, it might be a good idea to have a little bit of understanding about essential oils, so let me explain a couple of things you need to know!
Not all essential oils are created the same and that depends on the sourcing, potency and purity of the plants.
How do I choose the best essential oils? – Knowing where your oils are sources, their potency and their purity plays an important factor in deciding on the correct oils for you. We only want to put the best essential oils any where near our body, we already live in world full of toxins so the less toxins we use on ourselves and in the home the better.
Potency
Wow this is really crucial as the potency begins from the seed. Selecting the correct species for a particular plant plays an important role in potency and how the plant is grown and then taking into consideration the climate, soil, terrain and growing season for a particular plant, then you also have how the plant is harvest.
Purity
This is really the one you want to make sure is correct. It is really important that the right part of the plant is harvested as the compounds from leaves of a plant will differ from the actual flower which then will change the combination within the oil. Not only is the harvesting important it is vital to know if the essential oil you are using is not filled with nasty toxins, pesticides, fillers, herbicides and other contaminants.
Sourced
Where the oil is sourced is really important to the quality of the oils that are produced as this will vary depending on location, climate and environment. Plants grown in traditional environments produce better results because of the natural elements to that region. An example of this is Lavender Oil which is indigenous to a region in France, the high altitude at which lavender is grown best has a higher ester ( these are found in essential oils which helps with relaxing ) sesquiterpene ( which are found in some essential oils and helps with anti inflammatory ). Sure Lavender is grown in the US, but the therapeutic value are not quite the same as Lavender grown in its native land as the soil vary’s from region to region, country to country.
Really once you have done your research on essential oils it comes down to the integrity of the company and how that sits with you. Unfortunately not all essential oils live up to high quality.
