For thousands of years before we arrived in Western Australia, the Bibbulmun Aboriginal People lived in the south west of Western Australia and were surrounded by the prolific and year round blossoming of Western Australian wildflowers.
The tribe leaders and healers would conduct healing ceremonies where a person was laid in a pit of earth covered with coals and sprinkled with water and specially chosen wild flowers. The end result – A person who was afraid would gain courage. An angry person would find peace.
In 1980 the founder of Living Essences in WA began a great expansion of research into Western Australian Wildflowers and the development of Western Australian Wildflower Essences was formed. Working with local Aboriginal communities led to the discovery of the oldest living tradition of flower essence therapy, at least fifteen thousand years old.
